FLAP KIT – For New & Old Phantoms Flaps are now available on new Phantoms and as an upgrade for old
Phantoms. Flaps allow you to slow your landing speeds, shorten takeoff and landing
distances and improve, lessen aileron control forces and improve the handling
of your aircraft. The flap and aileron setup for the Phantom are independent
of each other. This is not a flaperon setup. The flap extends from the wing
root to the first wing support wire measuring a distance of 54”. The aileron
continues from the first wing support wire to the wingtip. The flaps and
ailerons have the same chord as your existing full span ailerons. 10, 20 and
30 degree settings are available. The flaps are manually operated with a
handle that is parallel to the wing above your head. The ailerons will now be
controlled using push pull cables similar to the one used for the elevator.
You will not need the old aileron cabling system. PERFORMANCE CHANGES All numbers noted here were measured from tests with an aircraft
weight of 600lbs and an Electric Start Rotax 447 with 2-Blade Powerfin prop. STALL SPEED – 27 mph (decrease of 8 mph from 35 mph, 30 degree
setting) CLIMB RATE – 100 fpm increase with 10 degrees of flaps. Vfe (MAX FLAP EXTENSION SPEED) – 65 mph OPTION A – NEW PHANTOMS New Phantoms will receive the Flap and Aileron set instead of the
full span aileron. The flap kit is a $500.00 upgrade option when ordering a
new aircraft. When ordering a new Phantom Kit the flaps and ailerons will
come assembled and covered. OPTION B – UPGRADE FOR OLDER PHANTOMS As an upgrade kit the flaps and ailerons come assembled
and covered. All other plates, brackets, cable and hardware required for
installation are included with the kit. The cost for this kit is $1425.00.
The kit takes about a day to install. OPTION C – UPGRADE FOR OLDER PHANTOMS WITH MORE ASSEMBLY
REQUIRED This kit is for those who do not mind a little more work
for a little less cost. In this kit the flap comes assembled and covered. All
other plates, brackets, cabling and hardware required for installation are
included with the kit. The aileron covering is supplied, but you must modify
your existing aileron structure. This involves removing the old aileron
covering, cutting your existing aileron to length, installing a new
compression tube and recovering the aileron. This kit takes about 2 days to
install. This option costs $1125.00 Check out the online store to order or give the factory a call. Feel
